Atlanta by Night Lines and Veils

Lines and Veils are a safety tool meant to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants in a roleplaying game. 'Lines' mark off content that will never appear in the campaign. In contrast, 'veils' indicate content that might appear in the game, but 1) won't be described in detail; 2) won't be roleplayed; or 3) happens offscreen. Below is a list of existing Lines and Veils with a short explanation for each entry.

Campaign Lines and Veils

Every player is responsible for respecting the Lines and Veils in this campaign. Repeated violation of these boundaries will result in removal from the game. This list only includes brief explanations. Click here for the full guide to sensitive content.

Bigotry towards PCs

Line

PCs will never be discriminated against on the basis of their perceived membership in a real life marginalized group. However, PCs may be discriminated against on the basis of fictional characteristics, like clan membership and thin-blood status.

Overt Bigotry
Line

Overt bigotry directed against real life marginalized groups, like hate speech or abuse, will never appear in the campaign, regardless of context. It's just not my idea of a good time.

Sexual Assault
Line

Sexual assault/harassment will never happen to PCs, nor will PCs be allowed to perform those actions. Also, SA will never be a plot point or a background detail in this campaign.

Torture
Line

Torture isn't permitted in this campaign. This includes torture of Kindred, mortals, and animals.

Sexual Activity
Veil

Sexual activity and seduction are permitted in this campaign, but sexual situations will fade to black. Seduction encounters won't be roleplayed. Instead, those encounters will be simulated with dice rolls.

Police Brutality
Veil

If police brutality appears in this campaign, it will be alluded to or implied. Players will not encounter graphic depictions of police violence.

Violence Against Children
Veil

I don't foresee danger, harm, or violence happening to children in this campaign. However, should those circumstances arise, those situations will fade to black.
